Whats the difference between themes and subject matter in art?
Examples please
A theme is something that the entire piece focus on–a mood or subject such as “family” or “togetherness.”
Subject matter is the actual character or object focused on. Such as a the actual family in the picture. NOT their feelings or emotions… or the feel of the picture.
