When an artist creates a popular piece of art does that piece of artwork belong to him or to society?
a film or a movie any peice of artwork. lets say picasso was still alive and had never sold any artwork but they still had their popularity and were in museums. could he choose to destroy them if he wanted to or does he not have the right to do so because of its popularity and importance to society
Until someone purchases the work or the work is donated, the work is the property of the artist or is the property of the artist’s estate after death. Yes an artist can do whatever he wants with the work as long as it is in his possession.
