Garden Art Statues
What to bring kids to see in NYC? Also, how to stop fears, when to go?
They’re 9 and 12 and have never been there. What I already have in mind is: Central Park, Statue of Liberty, Museum of Natural History, Metropolitan Museum of Art, a Broadway show. Is there anything I’m leaving out?
Also, due to what they’ve heard from other kids and from TV shows, they are very afraid to go there, and nothing I tell them will allay their fears. Any suggestions?
Last question: When do the trees begin to bloom there? (We’re in a more northerly climate so know it’s sooner than by us, but we’re not sure how much sooner and we’d like to go when things are in bloom. Oh, that reminds me to maybe include the Botanical Gardens.)

The kids might like the Statue of Liberty
but be prepared for the boat ride
Easter is generally the blooming season
[mid-April]
but snow can come at any time in their climate that close to the ocean
depending on if they are boy or girl they might be interested in Madison Square Garden
you can get secure tours just about at any hotel
Frommer’s published a book called New York City for Kids
that you can find at any good bookstore or onlline
I recommend purchasing the book
My husband was stuck working there during the clean up of Sept 11
and we poured over this book
it gave them something to do on thier own
although we missed Central Park Zoo
I hear its great
and let them look at the Shwarz toy store site
they will probably enjoy that too
